Let’s talk about the 533mm Medium Wave IR Lamp
If you’re dealing with materials that are thick or stubborn, you need heat that actually gets inside the product, not just something that toasts the surface. That’s why we built this 1500W Tungsten Halogen lamp. At 533mm long and running on 240VAC, it hits that “sweet spot” in the medium-wave spectrum. It’s faster than a long-wave emitter, but it digs deeper than a short-wave lamp. It’s basically the best of both worlds. The power side of things Putting 1500W into a 533mm tube creates some serious heat density. You’ll notice the ramp-up time is quick, which is great for keeping things moving. Plus, since it runs on 240V, you can plug it straight into most industrial grids. No need to mess around with bulky step-down transformers. One heads-up, though: 1500W is a lot of juice. It generates a ton of waste heat right around the terminals.**Do yourself a favor and double-check your housing.**If your sockets aren’t rated for that heat, they’ll melt. And nobody wants to deal with that. Why the Halogen and Quartz? Inside the tube, we’ve got a tungsten filament swimming in a halogen gas mix. Here’s the trick: the halogen stops the tungsten from evaporating and clouding up the glass. This keeps the tube crystal clear and ensures you’re getting the same wattage on day 100 as you did on day one. We used quartz for the envelope because it’s tough. It can handle being turned on and off rapidly without cracking from the thermal shock. Where this actually works (and where it doesn’t) You’ll see these lamps doing the heavy lifting in PET blowing, powder coating, or curing automotive paint. If you’re heating thick-walled plastics or coated metals, this is your go-to. It prevents that annoying surface scorching that happens when the outside burns before the inside is even warm. But it’s not perfect for every job. The warm-up is a bit slower than a short-wave lamp. If your production line needs “instant-on” heat for a high-speed trigger, this might feel a bit sluggish. But for steady-state curing? It’s hard to beat. Just one last tip:**keep your reflectors polished.**If they get oxidized or dirty, your efficiency drops, and your tube has to work way harder (and run hotter) than it should.
