You’re shoving a huge amount of energy into a very small space. Because of that, we usually suggest higher voltage circuits. It just keeps the current under control. If you try to run these on thin, undersized cables, you’re going to run into trouble. You’ll see the voltage drop, and your heating will get spotty and uneven. Also, make sure your power supply can handle that initial “kick” when the filament first hits. Quartz and the “magic” of the heat The quartz glass is the real MVP here. It lets short-wave infrared radiation pass right through, which means the heat sinks into your materials way faster than the slow-burn heat you’re used to. Depending on what you’re working on, we can give you clear quartz for maximum punch, or coated versions if you need to tweak the spectrum. And don’t worry about the connectors. Whether you’re using R7s or industrial pins, they’re built to expand and contract as the lamp gets screaming hot without snapping. A few things to watch out for These things are fast. Like, “instant-on” fast. It’s a dream for things like PET blowing or quick curing, but that speed puts a lot of stress on the quartz. If you’re constantly flipping them on and off, you’ll wear them out much faster. Plus, keep an eye on your cooling fans. If the ends of the lamp get too hot, the seals will pop and the filament will fry. One last tip: keep your reflectors sparkling. A little bit of dust on the mirror might seem like nothing, but it kills your efficiency. Keep them clean, and the heat goes exactly where you want it.
