
Getting the Most Out of Your 2000W R7s Halogen Lamps
If you’re running PET blow molding machines, you know the drill. You need a massive amount of heat, and you need it now. That’s why we built our 2000W R7s lamps. They aren’t just bulbs; they’re short-wave infrared heaters designed to blast energy straight into those preform walls so they hit the glass transition temperature exactly when they need to. The secret is in the heat. Cramming 2000W into a tiny 10mm tube creates an intense amount of heat flux. To make that work without the lamp killing itself, we use a high-wattage tungsten filament wrapped in a specific halogen gas mix. Here’s why that matters: the gas stops the tungsten from evaporating and gunking up the inside of the glass. It keeps the tube crystal clear. If the glass gets cloudy, your infrared radiation gets blocked, and your heating efficiency tanks. Built for the grind. We went with the R7s base because it’s a simple push-in connector. When a lamp finally burns out, you can just swap it for a new one. No rewiring the whole heater bank, no headache. The envelope is made of heavy-wall quartz. It has to be. These things go through brutal thermal shocks every time they cycle on and off, and quartz is the only thing that can take that beating without cracking. But a quick heads-up: keep an eye on that 10mm footprint. If your reflectors are warped or your sockets have gotten loose over time, you’re asking for trouble. You’ll end up with uneven heating or, worse, electrical arcing at the contacts. Real-world performance. In a high-speed production line, timing is everything. The 2000W output gives you that rapid ramp-up you need to keep the line moving. But there’s a catch. Pushing that much power through such a small space creates a lot of heat at the ends of the lamp. This is where people usually mess up. **Check your cooling fans.**If they aren’t up to the task, your sockets will overheat. Once those contacts oxidize, your lamps will start burning out way too early. Also, make sure your replacement lamps match your voltage exactly. If they don’t, you’re probably going to blow a circuit.
