Every PET blowing machine is a little different depending on who built it, but the physics of heating a preform? That never changes. We’ve spent our time making sure our infrared lamps just work. No fuss, no custom brackets. We designed them to be simple drop-in replacements for about 95% of the machines out there. We just focus on the stuff that actually matters: the power, the size, and the heat.
The Nitty-Gritty: Power and Fit
These tubes are built to take a beating. When you’re running rapid cycles, the wattage demand is huge. Whether you’re on a standard 220V setup or a heavy-duty 400V array, we match the wattage to your specific heating zone. If you’ve got thick-walled preforms, a 2500W tube gives you the heat density you need. Just a heads-up: make sure your wiring can handle that load so you aren’t dealing with overheating cables. As for the fit? We use R7s and SK15 connectors. They’re the industry standard for a reason. It means you can swap a lamp without having to rewire your entire oven or mess around with the holders. You just pop the old one out and slide the new one in.
The Science Bit (Simplified)
We use high-purity quartz glass and halogen gas. Why? Because it lets us push the filament temperature higher without the lamp burning out on you. But heat is only useful if it actually gets into the plastic. If the heat just bounces off the surface, you’re wasting energy. That’s why we use shortwave IR coatings. It hits the plastic fast and hard, which means you get your bottles finished quicker.
Getting It Running on the Floor
Nobody wants their line down for a week while waiting for a “proprietary” part from the original manufacturer. That’s a nightmare. We keep these in stock so you can get back to work immediately. Pull the old tube, slide ours in, and you’re good to go. One quick tip: if you decide to jump to a higher-wattage lamp to speed up your production, keep an eye on your oven temperature. More power means more ambient heat. You’ll probably need to tweak your cooling fans so your preforms don’t warp before they even hit the mold.
